Who we are

Tigbuy Gear Sheets is a small editorial desk based in Portland, Oregon, founded in 2019. We cover practical gear — bags, shells, pouches, organisers and small tools — with an emphasis on what the material actually is rather than what the listing claims. Our niche is gear discovery through shopping agents paired with hands-on material checks.

Three editors run the desk: Marcus Feldt (editor-in-chief), Priya Raghunathan (reviews) and Elena Vasquez (research). We buy the products we feature, we open them on camera, and we measure them. Every score you see here comes from a product our testing team ordered and handled in the Portland room.

How the desk works

We keep a shared order log: date paid, agent used, quoted weight, arrival date and the number of days between. That log is the backbone of our discovery coverage, because a great bag that takes six weeks and three follow-up messages is a different purchase than one that lands in nine days.

  • Material checks: fabric weight, coating thickness, denier claims, hardware finish, stitch density.
  • Use checks: fit on three body types, loaded carry, packing volume, weather exposure.
  • Agent checks: delivery timing, packaging condition, documentation and returns handling.

We publish on a five-point scale and retest standing picks every twelve months. Corrections go through the same desk that wrote the sheet.

Expertise

Textile specification, coated fabrics, load-bearing seams and shopping-agent order logistics

Marcus Feldt founded Tigbuy Gear Sheets in Portland, Oregon in 2019 after seven years buying and repairing bags for a small outdoor consignment shop. He trained as a pattern cutter and spent four years in a cut-and-sew workshop, which is where he learned to distrust a fabric description until it has been weighed. He sets the desk's five-point scale, signs off every published sheet, and runs the twelve-month retest calendar.

  • Coated fabric thickness measurement
  • Seam construction and stitch density
  • Shopping-agent order logs and delivery timing
  • Repair-grade hardware
  • Bag pattern cutting
  • Five-point scoring discipline

How I test

Marcus opens every parcel on camera and records the order date, arrival date and quoted weight before anything else happens. He cuts a 100-square-centimetre swatch from each fabric, weighs it, measures coating thickness at five points with a dial caliper, and counts stitches per inch on the four seams that carry load. He will not sign a sheet that lacks a comparison table.

Expertise

Field testing, fit across body types, pack volume verification and wear cycling

Priya Raghunathan runs the review bench at Tigbuy Gear Sheets. She spent five years as a gear-room coordinator for a Pacific Northwest trail crew, issuing and repairing the same forty packs season after season, and she knows exactly which failure modes show up in month three rather than day one. She designs the loaded-carry and wear cycles, manages the three-body-type fit panel, and edits every sheet before it reaches Marcus for sign-off.

  • Loaded-carry testing
  • Fit panels across body types
  • Wear cycling and failure modes
  • Pack volume verification
  • Returns and warranty handling
  • Comparison tables

How I test

Priya loads each bag to its stated capacity with sandbags, carries it through a week of ordinary commuting and one wet-weather day, then repeats the load check with a different team member. She logs zip cycles, buckle pulls and strap-anchor tugs by hand, photographs wear at the same three points each time, and rewrites any sentence that describes a product with a word she could not defend on the bench.

Expertise

Material sourcing research, specification comparison and shopping-agent fee structures

Elena Vasquez handles sourcing research and specification comparison at Tigbuy Gear Sheets. She spent six years in supply-chain analysis for a footwear importer, reconciling mill spec sheets against what actually arrived in the warehouse, and joined the desk in 2021. She maintains the order log, keeps the comparison tables honest, and writes the agent-experience sections that tell readers how long a purchase really takes.

  • Mill specification sheets
  • Denier and fabric weight claims
  • Shopping-agent fee structures
  • Delivery-window tracking
  • Comparison table construction
  • Product documentation and paperwork

How I test

Elena traces each product back to a mill or maker specification where one exists, then checks the claim against our own bench numbers and flags any gap in the sheet. She maintains a dated log of agent fees, quoted delivery windows and actual arrival dates, and rebuilds each comparison table from that log rather than from listing copy.
